Become a Faculty Member of the Petit Institute
Membership to the faculty of the Parker H. Petit Institute is open to any academic faculty member in the Atlanta area who is conducting interdisciplinary bioengineering and bioscience research, publishing bio-related regularly in scientific journals, and whose research interests involve collaborating with other members of the Petit Institute Community.
Faculty of the Petit Institute are comprised of eight different Georgia Tech schools or departments, of which approximately 35 faculty reside in the Petit Institute and more than 100 that are housed elsewhere. Additionally, the Petit Institute has faculty from Emory, UGA , Morehouse and Spelman.
Faculty apply to become members because they want to engage in the Petit Institute's collaborative and interdisciplinary environment through seminars, workshops and other social events. Who Can Apply?
Primary Georgia Tech faculty or faculty who hold an adjunct appointment at Georgia Tech can apply for membership. If you do not hold an appointment (primary or adjunct), you can still apply to become an affiliate member which will keep you abreast of all the Petit Institute's activities and special invitations. There are also occasions when faculty or research members who are not affiliated with one of the local universities may also be considered for membership.
Appointment to and continued membership in the Petit Institute is subject to the approval of the Petit Institute Faculty Steering Committee. New appointments are voted on quarterly.
