The Atrium

"The Atrium" is internationally known for its beauty and facilitation of our magnificent interdisciplinary environment. The atrium is an essential component of the culture at IBB. It is the meeting place for everyone in the biotechnology complex.

It is equipped with a small restaurant, le Petit Cafe, and comfortable sofas and tables for researchers and students to gather informally. The atrium space reaches three stories high with a central spiral staircase. Adorned with artwork by artists Karen Stoutsenberger and Irving Geis, the atrium feels like more like a museum than a typical university building.

Visit the atrium any time of the day an you will certainly run into a familiar face or colleague. In addition to finding the best cup of coffee on campus, the atrium is used for IBB events such as poster sessions, receptions and other gatherings, all of which serve to strengthen our community.

  • The Cell Wall represents the synergistic effect of interdisciplinary activities

The artwork displayed in the main atrium of the IBB building reflects more than a solid foundation in scientific tradition.

  •  Artwork from world-renowned scientific artist and Georgia Tech alumnus, Irving Geis, are displayed on the walls of the three floors of the IBB atrium. This collection is the only of its kind displayed anywhere in the world.
